Rosie the Riveter: D-Day Edition

This 11” figure was commissioned by the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans as the first in a series to honor the contributions of women in WWII. Throughout World War II over six million women stepped into the workplace to fill vacant factory positions producing the goods our nation so desperately needed to win the war. These women were known as “Rosie the Riveter”. “Rosies” proved their valor by stepping out of their traditional roles to successfully master the skills needed to construct the weapons of war.

Our “Rosie” portrays a female welder at the Higgins Boat Factory in New Orleans. These women were responsible for constructing the landing craft that helped secure victory for the Allies at Normandy and numerous other amphibious campaigns. The packaging for this figure includes a synopsis of the role “Rosies” played in the war effort, a history of the Higgins Boat Factory, and the role their LCVP watercraft (nicknamed the “Higgins Boat”) played in the D-Day invasion. The figure is dressed in traditional coveralls complete with ID badge, red bandana, factory hardhat, welder’s mask and gloves, and saddle shoes.
